Band Description

“The Marching Band is one of the public faces of our school, and in some settings (like parades), the only public face. If our marching band looks good, our whole school looks good.” - This is the essence of some words spoken by our former band director, Nick Greeson. We all know it to be true. It is much responsibility in the hands of a small group of students. They deserve our support, and we give it gladly and with enthusiasm. This is the goal of this site.

Winter Concert 12-16-13

On December 16, we gathered in the Sussex Central High School auditorium for a combined Winter Performance with our concert band, the jazz band, the contemporary band, the chorus, theater, and our dance groups.  The house was packed!

Thank you Sussex Central for encouraging The Arts in our school.  Thank you Mr. Greeson, Mr. Ables, Mr. Warick, and Ms. White for your instruction. And thank you parents for supporting your children as they make our lives more interesting with their talents.

These pictures will enlarge if you just click on them.  Please share our blog with anyone you think may be interested.   If you are looking for someone in particular and don't see them, I have more pictures from the evening.  Just tell me who you would like to see and where they appeared in the performance (use the comment section at the bottom.)

Poinsettias/Cacti Fundraiser

Who doesn't like poinsettias during the holidays?  These are grown locally by Jeff's Greenhouses in Bethel, DE.  We just need to offer them to folks who want to support a local business AND our band.

Deadline for orders is December 1.  Thank you!

Selbyville Halloween Parade 10-30-13

Selbyville Halloween Parade 10-30-13

Yes, there is a personal satisfaction and enjoyment in playing music, but music is meant to be played for others in a performance.  All performances are different, some more fun and casual than others.  That's why we like the Halloween Parade in Selbyville, Delaware

Once we unloaded at SDSA, the band warmed up in the grass.  A few kids were posing for a picture, and suddenly the whole gang rushed in to get in the shot.  And this is how the evening started.  It was great fun for everyone.

One perk of this parade is playing in the confined space of a street.  Our band sounded great, and BIG.
