What exactly do the band boosters do?
How can a band/choir parent help out? Do you have one Friday night this fall that you could help with any of the following?
· A big part of what the boosters do occurs on football game nights.
· Since the students stay after school on Friday to practice, the boosters have been preparing an easy meal, such as pizza, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, spaghetti, or meatball subs. We welcome donated meals, or portions of a meal.
· We help the students with their uniforms if necessary.
· For home games, we help tote equipment to the field, and for away games, we load it into the band trailer, and someone drives that trailer to the game.
· There are bleacher pads that are placed on the bleachers, and sometimes wiped down.
· Equipment needs to be toted onto the field for the performance.
· When the game is over, we do it all in reverse.
· We have a similar list of tasks for holiday parades.
Boosters and parents meet once a month to plan activities, etc. Boosters are also involved in some fundraising. And no, none of us really like fundraising. But we need funds for various things. We would like to routinely provide that Friday night meal free of charge. We anticipate the band and choir will take some trips, and fundraising helps to offset those costs. There are also costs associated with maintaining the band trailer, and insurance policies.
